Which is better - on a pole on top of the roof or in the roof?
We are meant to have good reception where we are and there is only $50 difference between the two so I'm not sure which one to go with.

And in the roof is good because the birds cant sit on it and poop everywhere! If the reception is good this is the way to go... But you can spell it however you want. ![]() Quote: Which is better - on a pole on top of the roof or in the roof? Is this for an existing home? If so then the aerial company should take a measurement of the strength of reception using some fancy electronic devices and should give you a quote for the appropriate type of aerial. If this is for a new home then I'd wait till the house is built before getting the aerial installed. Generally the home builder installs all the TV points and leaves the cabling coiled up in the roof cavity ready for connection to the aerial. Re: Aerial 5Jul 16, 2007 11:45 am somehow I knew it was wrong and that I would cop some flak.
House is a new house due for handover at the end of month. I have called a couple of guys to install it after handover and one said in roof, other on top. Re: Aerial 6Jul 16, 2007 1:11 pm If you want an ariel on the roof it would look like this:
Cute but no reception for your TV Nice - And we certainly wouldn't be putting that "Ariel" in roof. As for the TV - well that can go in the bin ![]() Re: Aerial 7Jul 16, 2007 1:14 pm Isnt that the same as 'Antenna'.....
nowadays there's a choice between the analog and digital antennas.. I wonder if the 'digital' is only a salesman's trick to sell u more expensive stuff. check your options before u proceed. Re: Aerial 8Jul 16, 2007 1:49 pm An aerial won't work in a roof space if you have reflective foil sarking (a good idea) or a metal roof. If you have a tile roof and no reflective sarking then an aerial will work in the roof, but generally the higher the better.
Take a look at your neighbours' aerials, If they are all welll above the roof then you'll need to also go well above the roof. If they are nice and low set and you don't have any metal in the roof, go for the roof option. You can always get a pole later and install it outside if there is a problem. BTW, if you get pay TV, they run the free-to-air stations on the cable as well. (Please check this one since things may have changed). |
