Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 04, 2009 11:32 am Hi everyone I've been browsing as a guest for a little while, but I've finally got a question worth asking! I have a split level home up in Townsville. Presently there's a single garage under the higher part of the house - this has been extended another 10 meters or so past the back of the house. It's fairly open to the elements at the moment (breeze blocks, lattice etc) and we're about to begin closing it in to create a good usable space. The ext. walls are all blocks, with some steel bracing that I'm planning on hiding behind stud walls once it's been sealed off properly. The single garage opening I'm talking about has a hardwood beam across the top (~2200mm) round steel vertical supports either side of it, and a cement floor. It will eventually be (from the outside) the back wall of a carport and (from the inside) part of a kitchenette. Finish can be anything really, probably rendered ext. and rendered or plastered/painted interior. What's the best way to go? My initial thought was blocks, but if they're not done right and core filled could be dangerous right? So I'd probably be paying a bricky... Other options? There will potentially be water pooling a little at the base of the outside wall in wet season (it's not set particularly low but there can be a lot of water up here!) - is there a proper way to pull off a wood frame wall in this situation? Looking forward to some help guys, thanks! 4 9069 I have stone pavement (?) in my backyard around the pool. I have not tended to them and so there is moss growing on them.
