As I will need to buy some jacks to lift the bearers where the piers have sunk, I'm looking for some advice on type of jack and capacity. I'm assuming bottle jacks on hardwood will suffice but not sure on the tonnage. Any advice appreciated. For a corner of a house, we used 3 of them. We used stainless steel plate at the bottom (50x50cm) at the time because we had it ****** around, but some serious hard wood (the kind used for mobile cranes) would be ok.
