Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 28, 2009 8:35 am We are trying to pick our ceiling fans and are going to choose between a 3 and 4 bladed fan. But I don't know what the difference is. I assume it's probably efficiency but not really sure. Can anyone enlighten me please?? Thanks! Re: Ceiling Fan - 3 or 4 blades 2Nov 28, 2009 8:47 am I can't give you a technical answer, but I was told by the electrician that installed my air conditioning a few years ago that you should always look for 3 blades rather than 4. I think that metal is preferable to wooden blades, too. We have a wooden ceiling fan in our family room with 4 blades that tends to circulate warm air, rather than cool anything down. The 3 blade metal ceiling fan in our bedroom is much more effective and provides relief when the summer heat is unbearable overnight. Hope this helps! Re: Ceiling Fan - 3 or 4 blades 3Nov 28, 2009 4:26 pm Thanks Haven. I might see what they say in our fan shop. We'll definitely be getting metal though.
