Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 25, 2009 11:54 am We've just sold our house, and I've had a couple of phone calls from the purchasers (via the agent) asking about things like missing keys. I can understand them wanting to ask the question, but I've told them we've handed over all the keys we ever had. The agent keeps calling back and leaving messages. What right do the purchasers have after settlement to come back and ask us to 'rectify' anything they aren't happy with? Eg can they ask us to replace locks etc that we don't have keys to at this stage? Re: Contact by purchasers - Post Sale 2Nov 25, 2009 1:46 pm It's "buyer beware" ... so, they have no right to contact you and you have no reason to respond other than out of common courtesy (unless there is some breach of contract - e.g contract said there would be a dishwasher, but you removed it !). You should inform the agent that you will no longer respond to his questions/issues regarding your former property. Re: Contact by purchasers - Post Sale 3Nov 25, 2009 6:38 pm I made sure we handed over all keys (and I even tagged them all so the new owner would know which key fit which door), left all the manuals for appliances on the kitchen bench, plus a note detailing things like rubbish collection day.... I cleaned the house, locked up, put the bins out (we'd filled them, after all ), turned off the power main switch, and that was the end of our responsibility. I agree with Jilamint - politely tell the agent that you've completed your side of the bargain and that you don't want any more calls from them. Re: Contact by purchasers - Post Sale 4Nov 26, 2009 6:17 am People arn't allowed to answer questions now. Gee what a world we live in. If its only a couple of phone calls what is your problem. If they start ringing every day I think then you need to tell them to stop. I bought a house, and I had two phone calls, one was did you get this letter, and the second was we think we left some toys in the crawl space, can we come get them. Its no big deal, just put you feet in the other persons shoes for a minute. We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6145 It seems very clear to me that your contract states that a security account does NOT need to be established so the answer to the builder is NO. If in doubt find a contract… 1 8501 2 31332 |
