Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 24, 2009 2:36 pm Just received the bill from our electrian. He was an electrian our builder works with. We didn't ask any questions beforehand (Cost to install fans/lights etc) Just wanting to know average cost to install a ceiling fan, light and powerpoint? We had 14 double powerpoints, 25 downlights and 6 fans installed. We supplied all the lights and fans. Thanks for you help Re: Cost of Electrians 3Nov 25, 2009 9:13 am From memory, listed price going through the electrician that wired our house was $46 for a double power point. Knock a bit off that for a cashie. Extra downlights/lights were about $42, again knock some off for cash. Won't this effort at tax evasion also mean you'd lack paper invoices and therefore any comeback in case of problems ? Do the hard jobs first. Thought it was a little steep as the bill wasnt itemised, just wanted to know what everyone was paying per light or power point ect ect. Re: Cost of Electrians 6Nov 25, 2009 9:45 pm $60 per hour, plus 15% on parts. My builder charged me $100 each downlight. My builder charged me $100 each downlight. $100 for each downlight is very steep. I paid about $40 for wiring and fitting and about $15 including globe for the actual downlight. We paid $2000 to have 2 split system air cons installed, 3 ceiling fans and 4 downlights that were provided. I thought this wasn't bad considering some places were quoting $1600 just to do the 2 air cons. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new.
