Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Called the police (did I over-react by calling the cops?), they asked a few questions and basically said "You'll get this in writing in the mail soon" This is the first time I dealt with the police (migrated 10 years ago) is that normal? But I don't think they can do much about it anyway.... aarrgghhh now my house is completely accessible from the rear and I have to fork out money to fix it oh well, just need to vent.... Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 2Nov 20, 2009 7:52 pm Oh my goodness. I can't believe that someone would do that? How stupid? I am so shocked. I think you may be able to claim on insurance? but then the excess would be more than the panels I guess. It's a beautiful colour, I love it. I think the Police should know, if the buggers would steal that then they'd take anything from anyone. It's like the low lifes that would rob a grandma, you just can't figure it out. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 3Nov 20, 2009 9:02 pm Sorry to hear this has happened, how awful. Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 4Nov 20, 2009 9:09 pm Oh, The Lows in the society ... aren't they just proud (as any stupido would be) of their deeds. You did the right thing by going to the police, there's not much more you could do. Better install some automatic lights now and get a big ugly dog and even bigger uglier warning about the big ugly dog ... it's not funny. Unbelivable. You did the right thing by reporting it - all offences should be reported as it's up to the police to prioritise. Hope this hasn't dampened the building experience too much for you. Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 8Nov 20, 2009 11:19 pm Are you sure a contractor didnt remove them to get access? Cause to take them out without undoing the rail, is difficult i think, and you would damage the panel, which would defeat the purpose, unless they undid the top rail, but then if you were stealing it, why would you do up the top rail. Are your getting back paving done, or a rainwater tank, but that dosnt really explain why two are missing. Is it a straco fence? Hopefully they will just sell you the new sheets. You have also lost more than two colourbond sheets, you have lost 2 panels, which is 6 sheets. Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 9Nov 20, 2009 11:47 pm I was going to say maybe they're setting things up so they can help themselves to more stuff, but then one panel would have been enough for access. Hmm, anyone else in the neighbourhood with that colour fence? Two panels of that colour fence? Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 10Nov 21, 2009 6:52 am Macy Hmm, anyone else in the neighbourhood with that colour fence? Two panels of that colour fence? That narrows it down.....or not. It's a Stockland estate, so I'm pretty sure the entire estate weould have the same fences. Somebody might have needed extra panels for their side fences and decided to save themselves some cash. Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 11Nov 21, 2009 7:57 am @buildingwithhamra no we don't have any work to be done on our backyard (at least not yet) @Macy that's what I'm afraid off, that this is just to get access to our house hopefully I'm just paranoid....... thanks for all the comments guys, appreciate it. Hopefully this won't happen again, to anyone else. Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 12Nov 21, 2009 9:20 am Wow, another new low for the low-lifes It does seem odd that they replaced the top rail, so they cared to some degree which is so strange! Oh and you definitely did the right thing in calling the police! You'll get a similar reaction to a stolen car. They get so many of these reports each day that they don't get overly excited about it. They do investigate it, but not as fast as you might like them to If they wanted access to your house I'm sure they would have cleaned it out at the same time. And they wouldn't have taken the fence with them if it was your house they wanted! Neighbours were robbed the other day. Police response was pretty good i thought. I'd never thought people would steal a fence... But till a few weeks ago I didn't think they would steal hot water units either. Keep an eye out for your neighbours I guess. Esp those who haven't moved in yet.. And definately it was right to tell the police. The more reports they get the more patrols they might do etc. Give them the big picture. Hopefully your experience in the estate improves from here on. -------------------------------------------------------- Building in Highlands Craigieburn Status: Building the Laundryless 25.5: Slab Complete Re: Colorbond Fence Stolen in Craigieburn!! 15Dec 31, 2009 8:28 am buildingwithharma makes a very good point, did you put the top rail back on? Otherwise they are some thoughtful theives or tradies with poor communication. If your house is in lock up it they may be inside the house. Regardless if they are stolen then it is somewhat bizarrre. Good luck with the rest of the build. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 10229 Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides). From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 2893 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 18582 |
