Re: I didnt ask for this but they are doing it... 22Nov 18, 2009 1:28 pm Ok a bit of an update - On advise from someone in this thread I went to the block on Sunday afternoon to leave a note (as I still had not had a phonecall back) I couldnt get there all day Monday as we had to drive up the coast to pick up our kitchen appliances - I did phone the office and leave a message for the SS as his phone was going straight to messagebank. Today I have been out and the front has been levelled and cut out ready for a driveway to be poured. My note was removed from the porch (only safe place to leave it) but there was a big storm last night so maybe they didnt see it and it was blown away??? No one is there today due to weather so I am going to go into the office this afternoon. If I dont hear anything back today and the weather is better tomorrow, hubby is going to go to the site on the way to work tomorrow to try to catch them there. You have rung your builder, if they are too lazy to listen to your messages or ring you back, their bad luck. I hope you enjoy your free driveway. Re: I didnt ask for this but they are doing it... 24Nov 21, 2009 9:40 pm as nice as a free driveway sounds, i would be concerned that they are putting in the right driveway. The drive way makes a massive difference to the appearance of the house and would be devistated and demand they rip it up if they gave me a basic swept concrete driveway Re: I didnt ask for this but they are doing it... 26Nov 23, 2009 9:13 am Sorry guys no news yet, we havent been out to the house as we have had childrens birthday parties over the weekend! Have tried calling SS again this morning but no call back yet, will drop out there this afternoon and see if anymore has been done. Re: I didnt ask for this but they are doing it... 27Nov 25, 2009 12:03 am How can you be 'moral' when these volume builders are in it for themselves! Quite likely they are the one's fundamentally stealing when they try and pull the wool over your eyes and charge you for things that aren't even required! I would say if the builder stuffs up, then take everything you can! buildingwithhamra I know we all like things for free. But if you know it is not in your contract, and you know they are planning on doing the work, morally you need to pay for it. Otherwise it really is stealing. If you didn't know it was going to happen like the tv antennae or the 30 meter of power it is a little gift. But the fact that you know, and the fact you posted here that you know, as the builder I would be charging you for the cost. How would you like to do work and not get paid for it. I would ring your builder, or your SS today and leave a message saying you heard the concrete driveway was being done, but you didn't approve to pay for this. Luck may be on your side, and they may start without getting this message, and then morally you are in the clear and you might get a little gift. Building in the Maples, Laurimar.
