I am looking for a draftsman / architect and really like a design of a house that i went through a while ago. Does anyone know of a way of finding out who put together the plans?
Thanks

They may still have the plans in a file or in the roof space somewhere. - A long shot but might be worth contacting the local shire, town or government and finding out if they have anything on record from when its building licence would have been approved. They might not be able to show them to you, but you might get the details from them off the phone. - Not 100% sure but if you have access to RP Data that might be of some help. Re: Draftsman / Architect 3Nov 11, 2009 11:33 am If you vaguely remember the lay out, get a draftsman and save heeps of money. I walked through an open for inspection and liked the floor plan and size of the rooms and worked with my draftsman. approx $6,000. Re: Draftsman / Architect 4Nov 11, 2009 8:28 pm We used a drafty, heaps cheaper $3500, esp if you know what layout and style you want. If you want a home that is completely different, get an architect. We initially had an architect for the home we wanted to build but the builder said that he had gone over the top with his design which would end up costing us a small fortune. We have gone with a draughtsman because we know what we want and would rather spend the extra money saved on something we really want. Re: Draftsman / Architect 7Nov 17, 2009 3:43 pm An Architect will give you more idea's and is more qualified than a Draftsman but more expensive. Make sure if you go with an Arcitect you do tell him your budget for the home as like someone said here already, it can get way over the top. I even did a pre-tender quote to 3 Builders to make sure my Duplex was not going to exceed our Budget, came near 1m so went back and told Archited to make it more simpler and get a few hundred off! Be careful and research! DA approved Waiting on a few more Builder's quotes. Your build is relatively simple, I believe your job can be easily done by a good building designer, you really do not need to pay for the architect.
