Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 08, 2009 9:45 pm Hi All, Just had a rough quote from a builder for an extension to a property we are thinking of buying in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. The house is on a concrete slab, with besser block walls. We planned to add an entertainment room and a second bathroom to the rear, all up around 35 sq metres. The builder has quoted $1700 per sq mtr to do the work, how does this compare with other peoples estimates? It seems a little steep to me, as the roof (it needs reroofing) is quoted seperately, and this only appears to cover a very basic fit with no floor coverings... Is this the sort of sqrmetre cost others have experienced? Any recommendations for good builders in the Mapleton/Montville area would be appreciated. Cheers, MrC Re: Cost of renovations on the Sunshine Coast 2Nov 08, 2009 11:18 pm cant answer your question, but i do have details for a builder if your interested in another quote. just pm me regards building heysen4e through SarahHomes at Milang IM THE PROUD OWNER OF DIRT house into council 22/08 Unconditionally approved 25/09 mortgage docs signed 29/09 land settled 09/10 land titled 22/10 start date about two weeks away!!! http://www.mymilangbuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Cost of renovations on the Sunshine Coast 3Nov 09, 2009 11:10 am same again - cant specifically answer your question. however.. we are building in Beerwah.. and our cost per m2 was around 1k.. and thats with roof/carpet etc etc. Im not sure if they do extensions/renovations but id give PJ Burns a call. They are a sunshine coast builder so all their subbies are local guys and we have been really happy with them so far. Might be worth a call! good luck ) Re: Cost of renovations on the Sunshine Coast 4Nov 10, 2009 4:05 pm Thanks for the info, much appreciated - will give burns a call to see whether they can offer a competitive rate. Its most difficult comparing rates, so dependant on quality of fit. I wish builders would just quote their lowest p/sqmetre rate with the most basic fit to avoid the confusion! then at least it would be a level playing field.
