Browse Forums General Discussion Re: When do tradies shut for Christmas break? 2Nov 05, 2009 9:10 am Our builder (before they went bust ) used to work up until the actual week of Christmas. Then the office came back a fortnight after NYE followed by the tradies a week or two later. Maybe check with your CSC? Some things are worth waiting for. Re: When do tradies shut for Christmas break? 3Nov 05, 2009 12:58 pm Varies with different companies. Larger companies tend to close longer than smaller ones. For example, we will receive a letter from our suppliers saying that they will stop taking order from xx date, and return operation on xx date, although we only close for a couple of weeks we just make sure we have enough stock to get us through the time. Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: When do tradies shut for Christmas break? 5Nov 06, 2009 6:27 pm It really does vary. Some tradies are back on site after two weeks, others won't be seen till after Australia Day. Personally, living on a new estate, I'm looking forward to a short period of peace and quiet. Re: When do tradies shut for Christmas break? 6Nov 06, 2009 8:41 pm Our site supervisor has told us that quite a few of his tradies are asking to work over Christmas as they are so short on work. Re: When do tradies shut for Christmas break? 7Nov 06, 2009 8:46 pm I asked my large volume builder and they said they only close for 10 days from just before Christmas til just after New Years. Re: When do tradies shut for Christmas break? 11Nov 13, 2009 8:14 pm Hmm, so maybe they just say 6 weeks in the contract then to allow for the suppliers closing down. I cant imagine they would need much more from the supppliers for our house so I guess we have a good chance of getting in! Elvis has left the building...
