Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 22, 2009 3:47 pm I was under the impression that once floor boards were polished you had to leave them four days until you could walk on them. As I need to arrange when to get the walls painted I left the message asking the man doing my boards this question. I just got a txt back saying "the next day". I will be scared to do so. Do you have to be careful for the first few days. ie do they dent easily when new? Should I leave it a few days just to be safe? Re: Another floor board question? 2Oct 22, 2009 4:22 pm Hi Kez, when ours were done noone was to enter the house for the remainder of the week, they were done on a Monday, so yes, four days sounds right. Our ss said that any footprints can damage the lacquer, it may not be visible initially but can show up months later. Re: Another floor board question? 4Oct 22, 2009 6:04 pm Its no different than paint or even concrete - it may be dry but needs a certain amount of time to cure properly. Re: Another floor board question? 5Oct 24, 2009 12:31 am noooo! The longer you leave the floors the better the result They will cure alot better. My partner has been in the business for many years and we are allowing 2-3 weeks for the floors to cure properly so we don't cause any damage to the floors. Even then we will be walking around with no shoes on because I will be so paranoid for a while once we move in. You also don't want to be putting heavy furniture on the floors a few days later especially heavy things like tables, lounge suite etc. Re: Another floor board question? 6Oct 29, 2009 8:03 am Thanks for advice. I no longer have faith the man doing my floors. Having troubles with him. In my thread "another renovating decision" I have had a bit of whinge about my troubles with him. The fact that he has said I could walk on the next day added to all my other troubles with him has left me feeling I chose the wrong man for the job Thanks for clarifying.
