Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 18, 2009 11:01 pm yeh thats right, you cant apply for it until the building surveyor has given consent and you have received your certificate of occupancy.... once you submit your FHOG application... it generally takes 3-6 months to receive the grant.... Re: fhog 2Oct 19, 2009 10:21 pm No ... Pretty sure you get it once slab is poured ... it may take a few weeks to month to process but that is when you are entitled to it ... Well that is what my Commonweath Relationships Manager has communicated to me anyway ... and someone please correct me if im wrong We're building The Albany 330E with Casa Design & Construction via National Builders Group See how we are going here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32694 Re: fhog 3Oct 20, 2009 6:24 am It might vary between states. In Vic, it's paid after the first progress payment, which would be base stage. http://www.sro.vic.gov.au/sro/SROnav.nsf/LinkView/40AD2986FAFEEF8ACA2575CB000109318024A4ADFB9DAED9CA2575A1004420DC Re: fhog 4Oct 20, 2009 10:41 pm My understanding of the FHOG is that if you use an agent (ie: your bank/lender) that it will generally be paid after the first progress payment but if you process it directly with Office of State Revenue that you will be paid it after the completion of the property. If you download the application form it explains it within that. Also, there is a separate addendum to apply for the 'FHOG boost'. I think you 'hit the nail on the head' with that one, i stand slightly corrected LOL We're building The Albany 330E with Casa Design & Construction via National Builders Group See how we are going here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32694 Re: fhog 6Oct 21, 2009 9:35 am From reading and rereading the guide and regulations, it's a different story depending on whether you're owner building or going through a builder, not necessarily if you go through an agent. Going through an agent means you eliminate some red tape and *may* need less evidence to prove your structure exists/is your PPoR (i.e. just a cert of occupancy, a passport and a contract). If you are owner building, the FHOG is valid based on date of slab being poured and PAID after cert of occupancy (at the end). If you are going through a builder, the FHOG is valid based on date of contract and PAID after the first progress payment (i.e. the slab). I would say that is correct (if going through a builder anyway) I am building via a builder and we were approved for the FHOG and the Boost last year (2009) at signed contract stage ... We have just placed a slab down (May 2010) and the bank received the full FHOG and Boost and has just transfered it into my Savings account this week, to do whatever i please with. Only thing was, i had to formally request the transfer into my account. Thats my situation anyway. Ta reddy Re: fhog 9Jun 12, 2010 10:29 am For some reason or another, we were told to do it directly (by our stupid mortgage broker who lasted all of 3 weeks), so now we're having to wait for the final invoice to be issued and paid, THEN we get the FHOG applied to the balance, and we'll take the rest (good, I'm waiting on $6,500 to put back into my company who lent it !!!) |
