Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 18, 2009 8:10 am Hi everyone, We are looking at purchasing a 1960's built high-set timber house. The building report came back showing one stump blown and needing replacement, which is no problem, however 3 other stumps have had concrete 'collars' fitted around the base. The collars are about 200mm high, and possbily not professionally fitted. I haven't ever seen this before, but I'm guessing they were poured because the stumps were cracked or water damaged, instead of replacing the stump. We will have a stumping expert look at it all this week. Under the house is concrete base, but I am not sure whether it's a slab or if the concrete flooring has been added in segments well after the house was built. Has anyone had any experience with these collared stumps? Do they pose any issues? Any info greatly appreciated. Many thanks Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs.
