60’s……I’m sitting in with that JUST, but thankfully do not remember the hippies.
BUT…..I know they cut a way for us in design!
Or was that smoked a way for us in design?

Waiting for contract / plans to be drawn up. Should be turning the soil over end of August sometime...
Didn't go for the Bamboo floors in the end Michelle. We had a look at a few floors laid & went to a few retailers with the product & the majority of them talked us out of it... Went for a "Flame Jarrah" laminex. Looks fantastic laid & wont cop the damage from the 2 kids (both under 4) which the wife is happy about... Cheers, Mike. A lot of paper work and organising in this initial set up process isn't there? - Have started organising stationary templates/letterheads/fax forms/ schedule templates....... - Designed and formatted business card - ready to go to print next week. - Registered for a domain name - to post up a very simple webite (just to get started - I'm thinking single html page with no links - this will be upgraded to something fancier in the future) - Organised the information for the basic website page. - Designed and formatted an ad - plan to put it on a few shop windows in the next few weeks. - Gathered a whole lot of info. about placing ads in papers and on related websites. Still much more to do................. Will post up an image of the business card when I get a chance. Would love some feedback (hopefully all positive!!!!) I found it a great experience when I started out, organising our logo, letterheads etc. Unfortunately the memory of the excitement has dimmed a bit 'cause I can remember the hippies. Re: What’s new??? 27Jun 28, 2007 5:12 pm Not much to report here! My brickies are still at it - they have been at it for 5 WEEKS NOW!!!!!. I have never in my life seen brickies so slow...and no matter what time of the day I drive past it is smoko time!
Elizabeth - Michelle is right enjoy the movies now when you can and the sleep in and the peace and quiet!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life will never be the same again!!!!!!!!!! Re: What’s new??? 28Jun 28, 2007 7:03 pm Frustrated!!!!!!!!
I havent been in the mood to post anything. Our application for coming outwards (6.6 m frontage) was rejected by the council. Our neighbours who had different priorities ( building purely to sell-- impractical front gardens, pathetic 4 meter backyards) have put us in a disadvantaged position. . I am wondering if I should appeal (and waste more time) or simply accept facts and go ahead with the final contract. Also found out that the colour chosen for kitchen laminate (vinyl wrap- savoy cherry has been discontinued.. chose maple instead but worried how its gonna look with beigey tiles) The restless wait continues...................... VP Re: What’s new??? 29Jun 28, 2007 7:26 pm Hi Kylie……well done!
Yes it is a lot of work, but its good grounding for what is to come! You have been busy. This is good it shows you are serious about getting started and making a go of it. Good luck with it all!!! Keep us posted! Peter…..Hippies….hahahahha Nat, LOL…… 5 weeks?? Oh well at least they are STILL at it! Smoko….get used to it, luckily they are not being paid by the hour! hahaha, you made me laugh, thanks for that!!! Vpande….building a house IS a frustrating time. Hang in there, at the end of it you can sit back laugh at all the ***** you had to go through….hopefully. Think about me…..I’m the one that has to deal with most of the stuff for other people…..do I drink?......just a little!!! I have managed to get a couple of jobs - a residential colour scheme and a graphic design job - designing business cards and van signage for a painter. Its a tricky because I am still working for a larger Interior design firm also - hmmmm trying to start my own thing up while still working a 5 day week in my normal job is really hard. At the moment I am just trying to get everything set up and start getting the work - then i'll either find another part-time job - or my own thing full time. Sydney is just so expensive to live.....and I'm trying to buy my 1st home so need the consistent income at this stage. I'll get there though. The challenge is part of the fun! I'll keep you all posted. Essentially any first home buyer can buy a block and then build a house exactly the same as you plan to do but somehow you will have to sell yours at a premium in order… 3 19028 Thankyou for your advice. We do have Caesar coming out and hopefully resolve the issue for us. 4 31067 yep, clearly mark where the infloor heating pipes are before drilling or nailing 1 15021 |
