Locked up, internal doors fitted, tiling done, garage floor down.

Still to happen

Install Glass splashbacks
Fit Garage door
Wire up internal electrics and switches
Install Gas hot water system
Install wall oven
Connect and install taps and plumbing
Paint ceiling and all external painting. (we will be painting internal walls)
Fit door handles
Install Toilets
Install Shower screens
Install Fly screens
Final Clean

Unfotunatley Michelle it looks like at least another 3 months. (2 months of work, month of cleaning and fixing issues that we have)

Thats what the builder has told me, but i hold hope that it will be sooner.

If they kept going like they have this week, it would be a month lol

We just advertised in Earth Garden, Renew and Owner Builder to find co-developers for our site.

The ad reads:
PRESTON (Melb). Seeking community-minded household (pref including kid/s) to buy into small eco development. Three houses to be built with shared gardens, close to PT & schools. One space remains for a very affordable quality home up to 110m2.

PM me if you know anyone who might be interested.

I'm now 17 weeks pregnant, so I'm doubting whether we'll even have our plans in to council by the time our bub arrives in December! We've pledged to have at least 4 months off from even thinking about the house from that point! :lol:

(I am NOT going to be contemplating window options on three hours of broken sleep!!)

You lot will all be long settled in your houses and off chatting in some other forum by the time I'm posting pics of our stumps.

Frame went up last week - roof sheduled for the 29th but with this weather we are having in Melbourne I doubt it!

Good luck with your BUB…..and don’t panic; you might give birth to a sleeper.
It does happen occasionally!!

And if everyone is finished by the time you start building…..all the better for you.
You get our undivided attention, couldn’t think of anything better for you!

Thanks Michelle. We're investing in a baby hammock, which lots of people say does help with the sleeping! If only they didn't have such tiny little tummies!!

Developer is a bit of a dirty word amongst my mob, so I use the term co-developer with some reluctance. I haven't been able to come up with a better one, so it's just gonna have to do for now.

Basically, we have two blocks side by side (9kms from Melb CBD) on which we will build three homes, one single story on north block and one atop the other on the south. We'll share a common entertainment area, chooks, vegie garden etc and each have private courtyards or balconies. It will be great ... when it happens! :roll:

And before I get a chorus of well-intended advice about the perils of our approach, thank you for your concern but ... we're extremely experienced in group process and conflict resolution, very well informed and well-read about cohousing, and have been working towards this for many years. We know what we're getting into here. :wink:

... but if anyone has a better word than co-developer, be sure to let me know!

I think what you are doing sounds great, but as you already know…..lets hope your CLOSE neighbours are nice ones!

No different to having a crappy neighbour either side of you though.

I don’t think you will find it hard to find someone willing to do this with you.
And Co-Developer is right for what you want.

I hope you enjoyed the movies…….after BUB is born it will be DVD’s for you!!!! :lol:

I don't mean it as derogatory....

In the 60's (well before my time) there were hippie commune's....

This would appear to be a modern day version of the same.
