Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 07, 2009 1:07 pm Hi, can anyone reccomend a builder in Australia, Victoria who specialises in rebuilding a home that was damaged by fire. The home was our investment property and the insurance won't pay so we have to rebuild it ourselves. Would appreciate any advice!! : ) Re: wanted a builder who specialises in fire damage rebuilding 2Oct 07, 2009 2:46 pm Do you have any local Assessing companies? They will have a record of their building & maintenance companies that they use and will be able to give you contact details for personnel. Alternatively, you can just go through your local yellow/white pages and get general builders to come and quote for you? Sorry that i'm unable to help you any further!! Bit hard when i'mon the opposite side of the country Good luck with it! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Time waits for no man. Unless that man is Chuck Norris. Re: wanted a builder who specialises in fire damage rebuilding 3Oct 07, 2009 4:08 pm Hi Jodie80, thanks for your advice. I have the quotes the insurance company used but they were really expensive. I have tried local builders but they say i need an engineers report and the insurance company's builders say i don;t so im not sure. So i was trying to find a builder that has experience with such repairs. Thats easier said than done though!! Apparently in our policy we had an exclusion clause and are not covered for people who had permission to be in our property and deliberatly caused damage (Tenants included) We have had the same policy for ten years and should have read the product disclosure brochure much more carefully! So therefore the won't cover us even though the tenant hasn't been charged for arson. I have a tool that i have created that does this. Message me with your details and I will send it to you. 5 21665 I thought this would be a popular question but I haven't been able to find any similar posts. Perhaps I'm wording my searches wrong? When you have car insurance and the… 0 4758 there was an event. The question is whether the builder had the insurance and whether the event was covered. The workmanship is a separate conversation. 10 17591 |
