Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 01, 2009 3:04 pm Due to the aesethic look we're trying to achieve we are wanting to go a larger roof pitch than the standard 20deg, our builder has told us our engineering will be significantly $$$ after 25deg and that if we just went that (25deg) over the 20deg it will be noticable. Has anyone got a roof with a higher pitch than 20deg that they could post a picture of so i could get an idea of what it lookds like???? ____________________________ Bec ____________________________ Building our Balinese Resort Inspired Dream Home Blog ~ http://hagarshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Help with Roof Pitch 2Oct 01, 2009 3:16 pm In vic the two roof standards are generally 22.5 degrees and 25 degrees. If i wanted to increase the pitch of the roof i wouldn't be going more than 25 degrees unless it was critical for the design of the house (ie French provincial etc) the $$ that is will cost will increase significantly
Re: Help with Roof Pitch 3Oct 01, 2009 4:57 pm I've had to increase the standard pitch on my roof from 22.5 degrees to 25 degrees due to the covenants imposed by the land developers. For the increase, M3tr!con have charged me $330. I've put some pics up of the roof up on my thread (link is in my signature). Maybe the builder is saying $$$ due to us having exposed beams internally cause those amounts are definately not $$$ ____________________________ Bec ____________________________ Building our Balinese Resort Inspired Dream Home Blog ~ http://hagarshouse.blogspot.com/ Re: Help with Roof Pitch 6Oct 02, 2009 8:45 pm I have just built a house with a 25 degree roof pitch and it looks good. Sorry no photo. I looked at the photo that was posted earlier and have to say the roof looks flattish but I think that is just the angle of the photo. My point being that I wouldn't use that photo as a guide. My opinion is that 20 degrees is definitely too flat. And 30 degrees is a luxury if you can afford it. 25 degrees is a happy medium. True...it's pretty hard to get a big house into a photo without using a wide angle lens, or standing on the across-the-road-neighbour's front porch.
