Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 23, 2009 8:05 am I had painstakingly chosen all appliances and the fridge I chose was a double door Westinghouse. Typical of me, I don't measure anything & just liked the look of it, so last night we decided to get the measurements of both freezer & fridge & both appear really small compared to my current fridge There are only two of us at home but I still want a decent size fridge I dont think this is near enough for my use. Anyone who has a double door, are you happy with the size & amount you can fit in Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Double door fridge - is it roomy enough? 2Sep 23, 2009 8:23 am myself and my gf are only using a bar fridge at the moment as we will get a nice new fridge after rennovating next year i presume. when choosing this fridge - did you actually open the doors and inspect? or did you make your choice online based on looks and cost.... if so sounds like you need to go into a harvey norma/dj's etc and try using them all. Re: Double door fridge - is it roomy enough? 3Sep 23, 2009 9:56 am We got a Westinghouse double door fridge/freeze (with water/icemaker) a few months back as a replacement for our old Fisher & Paykel which was damaged - I can't remember the exact model number, but it is no where the size of our standard top/bottom one - we do manage (family of 4), but can be quite tight the couple of days after grocery shopping. We have a second freezer too, as the spaces in the freezer really are minimal, esp with the space the icemaker takes up at the top - also the other thing to be careful of is that it is frost free - stupid me assumed all modern freezers would be frost free - but this one is not and we already have a build up of frost, which is not going to be fun to clean - . Like you I picked this fridge mostly on looks (and I was rushed to decide as it was an insurance claim) - it does look good, but is that enough to sacrifice the internal space...? Hope this helps - good luck!! Re: Double door fridge - is it roomy enough? 4Sep 23, 2009 1:25 pm I used to have a side by side fridge/freezer when I lived in Europe and it was quite large (they do come in defferent sizes). It could easily fit 2 cases of beer on the bottom shelve (did I mention it was quite large). The freezer bit is a bit small (after loosing space for Ice maker) but you can probably buy them w/o icemaker as well Jack Most of the time, council will push you out to a private certifier as it ties up their limited resources.
