We fund our government by borrowing money - how stupid is that

The government should not be allowed to live on future earnings via borrowings it's immoral. Having spent our borrowed money, governments change and we continue to borrow to pay for the last governments errors and lavish spending...
Look at this....
New home taxes cost more than the land
• In the five years to 2005 government costs associated with buying a house and land package in northwest Sydney grew 197 per cent to $198,670. In comparison, the cost of the land was only $116,667. This means that about 35 per cent of the price of a new home was eaten up by government charges.
• In Melbourne and Canberra government costs grew 146 per cent to $91,135, and 237 per cent to $108,011, respectively.
• In southeast Queensland's Redlands Shire those charges have soared 583 per cent in five years to $135,799, while government charges on a house and land package in Adelaide have increased by 331 per cent to $53,003.
• Total government costs associated with buying a new apartment doubled in Brisbane in the period, and more than trebled in Perth.
Affordability is a key issue as wages growth has failed to keep up with house prices. For example, in Victoria (December Qtr 2005) it took 30.6 per cent of family income to meet the average loan repayment. In 1998 (March Qtr) that figure was 20.1 per cent.
No other generation of Australians has had to meet such a burden of government charges and taxes on new housing. The solution to easing this burden will require a whole of government approach.
