Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 20, 2009 7:47 pm I am still in white scheme hell for my interiors to work with white birch windows. Has anybody used raw cotton 1/4 or scallywag 1/4? I hate admitting that hog bristle 1/4 does work because I keep being told it is the most popular colour in Australia. I am trying to find alternatives that will create a light fresh look that will still work with earthy country furniture. I love antique white usa but it doesn't seem to work when I take the sample up to the building site. Our living area is a large open plan area with grey polished concrete floors and a kitshen with classic white cupboards and ice snow caesarstone benchtops. Any pictures of successful schemes would be appreciated. Thanks. Re: Raw Cotton 1/4 or scally wag 1/4? My mother and mother in law both have beige paint and it looks really dull. I want something that is fresh and bright looking. I think I might want something that doesn't exist. The issue I have with the popularity of hog bristle is that I don't eant a colour that typifies the era we are in. Things that are too popular get very tired looking. I realise that I am not reinventing the wheel with this..... Re: Raw Cotton 1/4 or scally wag 1/4? Pictures anyone please? 5Sep 20, 2009 10:23 pm If it works, go with it. I see no grey in HB quarter, I had it in my investment property. I don't think such a neutral wall colour could be seen as anything other than that. We have gone with Hog 50% internally, and 100% externally. When I realised it was so popular, it made me feel much more confident about our choice- as in, we can't all be wrong! Depends which way you looks at it, I guess. Re: Raw Cotton 1/4 or scally wag 1/4? As soon as everyone uses/has something, that immediately puts me off. I got sick of walking into display homes with hog's bristle (or a similar equivalent) and thinking to myself "hmmm, no imagination". I know it is a very popular colour, but it's that popularity that immediately makes me say "no thanks". I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I am glad to know someone understands my dilemma about the overuse of hog bristle. The man at the dulux shop is also supporting my defiance. He said he went to a conference and he and all the other dulux reps were having a laugh about it and are sick of selling it. He did of course say though it is a very good neutral hence the popularity. I really like Natural White but I am worried it won't work with my white birch windows. They are far more yellow than I thought when I chose them months ago. That get yellower each time I look at them which is very annoying. Too late now though.
