I have finally decided (after a lot of research) do go with one of these units: http://www.carhil.com.au/store/index.ph ... 0cb82e1443 Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They are not cheap but it does everything I want it to do and I will never have to wait for hot water again. The good things about this unit are: a) it works with instantaneous hot water systems b) it is a retrofit system (means it doesn't need a dedicated line for return of non-hot water) and can be fitted to any house c) has a timer then can be set to come on and off at set times d) it is virtually silent I have sent out a request to several 'green' plumbers and am awaiting install quotes... Looking forward to this Re: Getting hot water ... faster! ... hot water recirculation 2Aug 05, 2009 10:48 pm Hi Matt, This is exactly the type of thing I am after as well! Any chance of organising a group buy as I'll need 2 of these units. Is it a simply DIY job or do you require a plumber to install it? Cheers, R. Looking forward to this i just got one of these installed (similiar), but i've got a ring main. Re: Getting hot water ... faster! ... hot water recirculation 8Aug 07, 2009 3:54 pm cyclone i just got one of these installed, but i've got a ring main. Any chance of a review? Re: Getting hot water ... faster! ... hot water recirculation 9Aug 10, 2009 10:04 pm while i understand water is precious, it was not the reason for installing a ring main. My ensuite is approx 20m from the HW unit, without the pump i would have to wait for approx 3-4 mins for the HW to arrive, but with the pump its seconds. I have it set to turn on at 6am and turn off at 11pm. In areas where every drop is precious, i highly recommend a ring main pump. Re: Getting hot water ... faster! ... hot water recirculation 11Aug 11, 2009 7:15 pm What is a ring main? Is that a return pipe? If so it makes no difference to this unit....it uses the cold water tap as the return line Re: Getting hot water ... faster! ... hot water recirculation 12Aug 12, 2009 8:51 pm Thanks for passing on this. I'll be interested to read how it works out. Will you be annoyed by the cold water taps starting with warm water? We would have liked to have installed a return pipe system, but is was one of the options our builder just would not even talk about, so our only option would be something like you've found, mattwalker.
