Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 17, 2009 12:25 pm Hi All, Have really been enjoying reading through the forums the past few days, and thought I might post our plans here so I can get ideas from the people who have all been through it before. My Wife and I bought our house almost 4 years ago, its a Post war QLD house on a slopping dow toward the front of the house (about 40cm at rear of house and 1.2m at front) that was originally housing comission (thus the entire area is full of replicas). we bought it as we saw so much potential in it. We have been talking about what we would like to do and have a fairly rough idea. Currently the plans are: Construct 6 foot fence, for when we get a puppy and also for some extra privacy. Remove Asbestos (while it is all bare we want to change the layout of the rooms a bit, currently 3 bedroom one bathroom Raise house (so can build in underneath) Redo upstairs with new kitchen, new masterbedroom with WIR & ensuite Move bathroom to current 3rd bedroom /study and use current batroom for seperate WC, internal stairs, bit more room for dinning room add verandas around house and large deck on back reduce 2nd bedroom so can create hallway to front of house, create main entry have french doors from upstairs bedrooms on to front veranda remove front door into lounge and add large french doors onto deck then eventually build in underneath the house to add extra bedrooms, bathroom, rumpus garages & workshop/storage areas Also want to get our roof cleaned up (teracotta tiles) and a water tank installed Thats the main plan, keep the feel of the place, change it to maybe a bit more of a queenslander look and feel. The more i think about it the more i think most of this needs to be done at once. I think that everything but the build in underneath will need to be done as they all tend to flow on from one another. We will be doing this as owner builder so a lot of hard work and learning curves lay ahead. Any ideas, suggestions would be very welcome as we slowly start this project up. Cheers Re: Planning the Reno 2Sep 17, 2009 12:33 pm that is a big job. Watch the asbestos - removal can get costly. We found broken up stuff buried UNDER the house, the builder had to get specialists in to remove it - and that was NOT in our budget.
