Great job, it looks lovely!!! I must say, I'm still totally in love with your blue walls and crsip white woodwork, it looks magnificent - I would get a buzz out of it every time I walked into that beautiful room . I wish my reno would move along as fast as yours . MagicJ I finally have my own reno thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28335 The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue! Re: Our house renovation...splashback in...pics to prove it! 22Sep 27, 2009 10:41 am Really beautifully done! You are definately doing the major reno there Virginia. Love the island bench with the drawers and the waterfall ends. My kitchen finally gets here this week so hubby and i will be putting it together slowly. I hope its fairly straightforward. Thanks for posting the pics as its very encouraging to watch someone elses reno progress. I love your bold use of wall colour. All our floors are finished and we will post pics soon. They turned out pretty good, a few minor blemishes but really, i think i'm the only one who will ever know. I cant imagine anyone crouching down to inspect the floor from every angle. Re: Our house renovation...splashback in...pics to prove it! 23Sep 27, 2009 1:13 pm Loving it!!!! Is your splashback white glass with the green tinge? I'm stuck with my own splashback idea and want white of some sort I stole your blue idea - I ended up painting my spare room feature wall in it!! I've bought some white furniture to go in that room and it will have a white blind and the window is white anyway so I hope it ends up looking as amazing as yours! Thanks for the colour idea! Re: Our house renovation...splashback in...pics to prove it! 24Sep 27, 2009 1:35 pm katie81, it's natural glass painted white. You can get a solid white one so there is no tinge if that is your preference. I'm so glad you liked our colour we chose enough to use it yourself. It is a great colour. Whenever I walk through the kitchen I marvel at it all! Re: Our house renovation...splashback in...pics to prove it! 25Sep 28, 2009 11:48 am Floor boards look great Virginia. I have ripped up my vinyl and carpet and pulled down a few walls so it is all a bit of a mess at the moment. Hope I get an end result like your own. A question for you. You may have already mentioned in one of your posts but I couldnt find. I am looking at so many topics as I am renovating my unit. I am not sure whether to paint the walls first or do the floors first? I have had conflicting views? I am thinking 1) Floor boards 2) painting 3) install kitchen. But don't know??? You may have already mentioned in one of your posts but I couldnt find. I am looking at so many topics as I am renovating my unit. I am not sure whether to paint the walls first or do the floors first? I have had conflicting views? I am thinking 1) Floor boards 2) painting 3) install kitchen. But don't know??? Kez Kez, we had conflicting information too and went with the majority...as it turns out, that wasn't the right move!! I would do exactly the order you have written above...floors, painting then kitchen. We did our kitchen first, painting next and floors last. This was wrong because the tiler tiled in the kickboards which had allowances to have tiles under them so we could access the dishwasher if needed (he also tiled shut our back door but that's a different story!!). Our floors were polished as the last job and he did a great job BUT there are a few areas in each room along the skirting boards where the sander had rubbed and taken off paint...because it was new paint and not cured for long enough (weeks/months), it apparently comes off easier and in larger flakes. We now have to go around and fill in the blanks! This forum is a wealth of information and I wish I had discovered it earlier. Good luck with your renovations and make sure you post photo's so we can see your progress! Re: Our house renovation...splashback in...pics to prove it! 28Sep 28, 2009 10:11 pm Thanks Virginia, Yes this is a great forum. I only discovered it last night. I too wish I discovered it earlier when I started the process. One minute you feel like you have heaps of time and the next all these decisions have to be made and each decision seems to rely on another. You have done a great job. I am looking forward to my end result. Kez. I thought I would post some pic's so if there is anyone out there thinking about it but not sure...here's a real life example.
