Wouldn't have thought so. But you could certainly specify it to make sure.

Most councils allow fencing up to 2 meters high without having to get a permit. It is commonly used where there is a slope so that the bottom of the fence line is sealed (good if you have pets that you want to keep in). See their website for picutures. http://www.thefencefactory.com.au/colorbond.html I have a current quote for this type of fencing in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and it works out to $82.50 per meter (my block is flat so not sure if that comes into it). Re: fencing cost 25Sep 11, 2009 2:35 pm thlo nh i have got one quote for colourbond $70 per metre, is this okay? $50 per metre (or $120 per panel) is the regular price for fully supplied and installed colourbond fence in Western Sydney. can u please PM me the contact info for color bond supplier Re: fencing cost 26Sep 11, 2009 4:29 pm Sorry I haven't kept their phone number but if you open up any of the West Sydney local paper trades classifieds listings you'll find several that quote you that price. But you could certainly specify it to make sure. The majority of timber fencing these days in this area is treated pine. Probably 75% treated - 25% hardwood Not sure why your saying a fencer can't use treated pine, thats exactly what they do use. Fitting a treated pine sleeper under a Colorbond fence panel is very common Re: fencing cost 28Sep 13, 2009 7:42 am Dukekamaya Hoffies nh :: hey, hoffies, so it has to be treated pine, the fencer can't be using otherwise, can they? nh Wouldn't have thought so. Re: fencing cost 29Sep 13, 2009 5:43 pm Quote: The retail price of Aussie made colourbond fencing panel is $66 to $77 per 2.4 m panel. Its $98 per panel in Adelaide at Straco. Quote: If you seriously can't come to an agreement each get your own on your own side of the boundary I would not advise building two fences, apart from the cost, it is a haven for rodents and a fire hazard, and my council would not approve this for these reasons. I guess if you really want colourbond, you will have to pay the full fence cost yourself, or go to court. Send him a notice for colourbond, and see if he replies, if he dosnt you win. Re: fencing cost - next door vacant land sold, not settled 32Sep 14, 2009 9:41 am hi, everyone just thought who can give me some advice re the fencing: - our next door (vacant land) is sold recently, but take 90 days to settle, the previous owner understandably didn't want to pay for the fence, directs us to the agent. we were informed by the agent that the upcoming owner wouldn't want to do anything before the settlement, that mean, wouldn't want to discuss this fence issue, let alone the cost. what should we do? - we wouldn't like to leave it unfenced for 3 months for security reasons. if we pay for the whole thing, and ask them to pay for half later, will they say things like "you didn't discuss with us, we don;t like ...." and refuse to pay their share? fellow firumers, any thoughts on this? thanks in advance nh Re: fencing cost 33Sep 14, 2009 11:34 am Whoever owns the land at the time the fence is built is responsible for the cost. Therefore the new buyers won't be responsible until the land has settled. The current owners may not be interested but they are liable. If you hit them with a fencing notice straightaway then they will have to pay seeing as the settlement is 90 days away and they only get 30 days to respond. Go with a fencing company that will bill the neighbour directly so that you don't have to chase them for their half. Having said this, they will most likely only contribute to a 1.5m high fence in timber so if you are looking for something a little better, you will have the bear the additional costs of anything extra yourself. Good luck and let us know what eventuates. Re: fencing cost 35Sep 14, 2009 3:05 pm buildingwithhamra Its $98 per panel in Adelaide at Straco. $77 per panel in Sydney Stratco. That's odd! Supply and demand You will pay near $98 per panel in Nowra 2 hours south of Sydney. Re: fencing cost 37Sep 17, 2009 12:21 am Dukekamaya, there is an idea; go for a weekend drive to buy your fencing materials here. You'll get your trip paid for by the savings. I heard the Swiss drive over the border to Germany and fill up their car boot with groceries on the weekends for savings. When I was traveling in Europe I even met people driving across the border to buy a carton of cigarettes. Re: fencing cost 38Sep 17, 2009 2:12 pm You will find that the colourbond will sit just above the surface of the ground. This is to prevent dirt getting into the bottom railing, getting wet and rotting it through. Benefit of treated pine is that it isn't prone to rot and can go into the ground partially. You will find if the block is on a slope with a colourbond fence there will be triangular gaps underneath when no board is used because obviously the metal is straight along the bottom. Also as was stated the colourbond sheeting is 1.8m, so to get a 6'4 fence (1.95m) you need to lift the bottom. We had fencing issues of our own - our neighbours would not respond to the quotes we sent (it's a vacant block) so out of despiration we went and paid the full cost and errected a timber fence. We didn't want colourbond, but now he has colourbond one side and timber on our side. Too bad if they don't like it - maybe they should have replied to us! Our 1.95m pailing fence was $42/m installed with redwood posts and pine pailings. ~Ray. Legally like the other poster said, the current owners have to pay for half the cost of the fence, but put yourself in their shoes would you want to I certainly wouldnt. If you serve them with a notice they will dispute and by the time it goes to court, it wont belong to them anymore and you have to start again. I do not think its fair to get the fencing contractor to chase the money. Quote: we were informed by the agent that the upcoming owner wouldn't want to do anything before the settlement, that mean, wouldn't want to discuss this fence issue, let alone the cost. I hate land agents, it sounds like if you do get this fence build the new owners wont pay a cent for it. Can you at least get the new owners number and chat to them. It seems like the block has had no fence ever, why can't you wait 3 months now? Need to remove glass panel out of concrete without wrecking the glass to get the spa room in, any recommendations on how to do that. Thank you 0 39024 We are at the stage on our build in Kilcoy, Queensland where we need to get our fencing installed but we cant get any contact details for our neighbours to give them… 0 6142 7 11929 |
