Aldi is far more competitive and there is a myriad of smaller supers very competitive these days which need to be fed with small cash flows. Costco is definitely a dinosaur on its way to extinction
I very much doubt it is on its way to extinction.. but costco is not going to suit everyone.. for me personally I hate aldi.. you can't do a complete shop there as they have no brand names.. it would be like going into coles or safeway and only being able to buy homebrand.. I don't mind a mixture of brand name and homebrand but can't stand it if that is my only choice.
Agreed - we wasted more money going to Aldi trying their items and not liking them so having to do another shop to get the brands that we trust and then throwing the Aldi items out - waste of money and waste of food.
I'm happy to be "thrifty" on some items - but (using a marketing line from a well known brand!) You cannot substitute quality - I work too damn hard for my money to skrimp and save on a few items that I really want to enjoy.
But hey - Pro Choice - not everyone has the same likes and people shop at different places for different reasons - whether it's convenience, price, availability of product, variety or location - or whatever it may be.
