HI I had some work done under my house, I notice the builder whome I ended up giving the flick created a room for me which was to small, he installed an RSJ under my living room floor and he cut it approx 2-3 feet short of the next brick pier. He does have it supported by a timber frame and under that is approx 3 pine 2x4's, I think.
However the council have told me if I want it passed as a storage area I need to extend the RSJ to the pier, how do I do that? Am I able to take a piece of 4x2 and run it from the pier to the RSJ and put two bolts or so throught the timber and RSJ?, Someone told me I could weld another piece of RSJ on to it, but it looks easier to me if I use the timber as I would not have to remove any bricks from the pier.
