My DP thinks I am slightly over-obsessed. I too have been guilty of taking too many photos at display homes. I have also found myself looking at bricks/facades/gardens/set-backs/roofs etc while I am out and about, oh and taking the odd photo of strangers houses. Before starting this process I never knew bricks could be so interesting. lol. I try and work out woodland grey from bushland, and windspray and slate grey. I thought I was going for the mid grey by picking windspray but it is a lot lighter than what I thought, so maybe I should of picked busland. Its too late now but I cant stop looking at all the roofs. We look at our new estate almost every week to see progress. How many times have I put up my favourite floorplan to check it out online? ad nauseum. I keep changing floorplans as I discover another that meets our criteria. Homeone, paint colours, facades, display houses, floorplans. I could go on forever. I'm sure the display home people are sick of me I bet they think OH here she comes again, they ignore me now and let me get on with it Its so hard to take everything in in one go, and you usual focus on what part you are trying to decide on at the time. My biggest thing is the initial drawing up of plans I spend days ( and many sleepless nights ) working out different ones! now i go to the newsagent regularly and buy all the home design decorating furniture etc type of books including garden landscape whatchamacallit all sorts and ... i actually bought them all *sigh* the obsession didn't stop there. i went through them one by one over and over again, then i start ripping pages off those books and create a "favourite" pile. except favourite pile is starting to get out of hand and i don't have space for all those magazines either anymore. and i can't stop. positive part is: after ripping through a LOT of pages, reoccuring theme starts to pop up so now i know what i like and they're always either style A or style B. Consistency Re: What's your guilty home-building obsession? 17Aug 28, 2009 12:50 pm OMG I forgot about the magazine obsession completely. I did exactly the same novotel, every single one and I would go through them 3 or 4 times. There is good news, you do stop after the house is built, only buying one occassionally now thank goodness.
