Highly recommended. Technology pioneers, great customer service, great equipment, experienced techs and support staff etc... I've been with them for 3 years (ADSL2+) and have never had any issues. Been with them for 7 years in both city (Brisbane) and rural locations (Charleville & Stanthorpe) with rock solid connections and no congestions. Have recommended a number of people who report likewise. Great service, support & value. Re: Which Broadband???? 5Aug 21, 2009 9:59 pm I'd be reading this before choosing providers... You assume that the OP was familar with the forums at WP. I would be saying - "check what out " if I clicked on your link... Point Cook is a know 'dead spot' for adsl (check it on whirlpool) I think you will be lucky if you can get any sort of adsl Re: Which Broadband???? 10Aug 22, 2009 9:11 am If you know yoru phone number try here (this will tell you if you can get adsl 2 and all providers for your exahnge and all the plans they provide. http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au From what I have heard from friends and collegues prepeare to be dispaointed if going west of melborune for internet infrastructure it can be a bit hit and miss. Re: Which Broadband???? 12Aug 23, 2009 8:46 am Tin cans can be quite effective.....but it takes about 3 weeks to download a picture Hehe.... Re: Which Broadband???? 13Aug 23, 2009 2:28 pm if your unable to get adsl the government have to provide you with reduced cost alternatives such as satelite. my brother lives just out of reach of adsl and he got sat put in, no good for games, and not really a comparison, but better than dialup Blog - http://snakedr.blogspot.com/ Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=12084&p=307406#p307406 Status - PCI 15/10. Service providers weren't interested in offering me satellite so I got stuck with Telstra Next G which most people in the estate are using. It expensive, peak hours are slow, the pings make online gaming impossible and they charge for uploading. It's better than nothing but my only hope is that this 'worldclass broadband' rollout happens sooner than later. This country has a major problem when it comes to telecommunications and internet - it is an expensive monopoly where the customer allways comes off second best. Re: Which Broadband???? 15Aug 23, 2009 8:03 pm As others have mentioned Internode is well regarded and their service is very good. Getting ADSL in Point Cook is a bit of nightmare with everyone pair gained and no ports available. I put a few friends in Point Cook onto Exetel wireless broadband (uses Optus coverage). Optus coverage in Point Cook is not the greatest - the nearest towers are in Hoppers Crossing and Sanctuary Lakes but with a $30 3G wireless antenna: http://www.allphones.com.au/accessories/data.asp it works quite well. They don't even rent a phone line, the Exetel VoIP service is surprisingly good. Failing that you could try NextG wireless broadband but unfortunately it is about 3x the price per month... Re: Which Broadband???? 16Aug 24, 2009 1:08 pm +1 for internode. ADSL2+ naked extreme. No home phone, no setup fee, monthly contracts and reasonable monthly charges. I was tossing up between iinet and internode having read the whirlpool forums, but the upfront 'setup' fee for iinet (which was $199 from memory) put me off them. However I'm sure each provider has their own 'specials' period..no upfront fee, free upgrades, etc etc Re: Which Broadband???? 17Aug 24, 2009 1:54 pm +1 for Internode they have the fastest ping times of all the ISPs (which are reasonably priced). KungFuPanda Building with UrbanEdge He was so deadly, in fact, that his enemies would go blind from over-exposure to pure awesomeness! Re: Which Broadband???? 18Aug 24, 2009 6:09 pm Another one for Internode, I had broadband with them and now I have dialup (because we moved and can't get broadband here) but still for $25/ month I can have unlimited dialup and no annoying timeout like we used to get with Optus. If we end up staying here I will be looking at Aussie Broadband, the only good value satellite broadband provider I have come across to date. If you can't get broadband where you are you should be able to qualify for the government thingy and get sattelite broadband installed for free. Here is the link if you need it. Yeah every other Satellite company I've looked at seems to charge $50 or so per month for the lowest usage and speed. Aussie seem to be on par with what I was paying when I was with Internode for the same speed and usage on ADSL. I can't say I've checked their ADSL rates though, could be worth a look too. http://www.aussiebroadband.com.au/satellite/plans-and-pricing/ Re: Which Broadband???? 19Aug 24, 2009 6:57 pm Another happy internode customer here Renovation Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=38489 Re: Which Broadband???? 20Aug 24, 2009 7:00 pm Another Internode customer here, and +1 from me too. Actually, I was at a conference a few weeks back with Simon Hackett (CEO of Internode) and their plans for the future look fantastic. And we're getting 100Mbp/s FTTH with Internode once we move into our new house. Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6356 brokers will also be in a position to get you a better rate than the advertised rate most times. 6 7586 Thank you.
