Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Broadband in new estates....Tarneit 2Aug 18, 2009 9:21 pm ingwen Hi everyone, We have just recently move into one of the new estates in Tarneit, I was wondering if anyone has issues getting ADSL 2+ or ADSL broadband? And which ISP to connect to other than Telstra. Thanks Check out this http://whirlpool.net.au/ Re: Broadband in new estates....Tarneit 3Aug 21, 2009 5:44 pm What a coincidence. We are having the same problem ourselves. We called Telstra & they said they don't know if they have got infrastructure for fast broadband in Tarneit or not. However, the technician from Telstra would be able to tell us on the spot whether we can have broadband or not. We don't want to be with Telstra anyway. This SUCKS.... Re: Broadband in new estates....Tarneit 4Aug 21, 2009 9:21 pm there is not need to call anyone just go to the website below and find for yourself what type of service can you have and who serves the area as ISP is really very comprehensive. Besides this iste is where all geeks go. It only checks what exchange you would be connected to, and does not however know if you have pair gain/distance problems, which is the most common problems in the Point Cook area preventing people connecting to ADSL in the area. When you apply for ADSL there are two qualifications done - a pre-qualification done by sales people which checks that your exchange has ADSL and then another check done, by a different department, which checks available ports and what kind of ADSL you can actually get to your property (including distance to exchange/DA etc) - it is this final check that can take a few days and gives the go/no go. If you know what you are doing and understand it all this information is available online from the Telstra Wholesale website 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.'
