They manufacture, sell and install all sorts of render and products. We used them for our front fence and house pillar. I would use them again. But I've been reading a bit of conflicting information and after some clarification. I'd like to render the front of our house one day, to make it a bit more modern / appealing (60's solid brick house). It is 17m across the front , and I'm guessing the walls are 2.4m high (not home now). There are a number of large windows in the front of the house (about 17m^2 of window.) Based in SA near Adelaide. What would be the approx cost to render such a beast? I've seen $25/m, and $50/m, I'm not sure if that is materials only, or labour only, or total cost. Cheers Adrian Re: Cost of render 13Nov 13, 2009 5:03 pm and be aware there is skim coat render.. and normal render. Skim Coat is way better than bag and paint.. but not as good as full render (obviously)...Skim coat is much cheaper. Just another option to consider if you are on a tight budget Re: Cost of render 14Nov 14, 2009 6:47 pm adrian Sorry to thread mine here.. Cheers Adrian I spoke to my SS about this a few days ago. The renders get paid for the whole m2, including the window. I have a 3.2 meter wide door, so I though that would be about 6m2 of render around the door, but no they charge for the whole wall which is closer to 12m2. They do this, because they have to render around the windows. think this is BS. I also got told that renders make a lot of money. My front of the house is 9 meters, and my SS reckons the renderer got paid approx $2000 materials included, so more like $100 m2. I have a phone number of my renderer in SA if you are interested. Re: Cost of render 15Nov 16, 2009 12:18 pm It actually makes sense to me that the quote is on square metreage (sp?) regardless of windows. If doing a full render coat on an existing house it would be much easier to smoothe a flat wall than have to mitre all the edges into the window frames etc. In fact, this is the one thing that would prevent me from attempting DIY render. It's these bits where you can appreciate the difference a good professional makes. Re: Cost of render 16Nov 16, 2009 12:36 pm OK, so to price this I'd need to work out the total area of wall (inc windows). Thats easy enough to do. So is $100/sq m a reasonable price to go on? After this weekend there is a change in plans, working on 2 years to finish renos and get house value up, then upgrade to something newer. So might not be doing this anymore, unless it will add more value to the house than it costs. Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again.
