I am asking a simple question so there is no need to elongate your answer, or bring other variables into the equasion. Thanks in anticipation We have installed double glazing. And now we are redoing the double glazing with double glazing hush laminate for noise control. I have only been in the house for 4 weeks and havent had a bill but will keep you posted. Although your demand or rather query was for ppl having DG and has it changed your consumption, so I suppose I fall into your category of having "elongated my answer and brought other variables into the equation!!!!" as I have a new build. we are selling and moving to the coast, if you know someone who wishes to buy in Mernda Villages, please visit this link http://www.realestate.com.au/property-h ... -107083288 Re: Have you recently had double glazing installed... 3Aug 01, 2009 11:33 am Tis all good As you have good intentions Love your Username Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: Have you recently had double glazing installed... 4Aug 01, 2009 11:37 am If you have noise issues, please ensure that you consider hush laminate. We have been through hell with all of ours and hope that by Monday, when the new DG gets installed that it will help.I do notice that the house gets warm very easily and we only need to run the spilt system to 20 celcius before rushing to turn the control down because its too hot! So I think it has made a dramatic effect on what we had in the new house and we have a very much larger place now. we are selling and moving to the coast, if you know someone who wishes to buy in Mernda Villages, please visit this link http://www.realestate.com.au/property-h ... -107083288 Re: Have you recently had double glazing installed... 5Aug 01, 2009 11:56 am Where you are coming from is where you are going to... We had no other forms of heating or cooling and we didn't need it. I lived in Europe where just about everything is double glazing. If I could get it and afford it, I would do it. Re: Have you recently had double glazing installed... 8Aug 01, 2009 1:29 pm We have double glazing and the house seems to hold the heat really well with only a gas fire, in the last house it was freezing - no double glazing. Also, noise is kept to a dull roar. Re: Have you recently had double glazing installed... 9Aug 01, 2009 1:32 pm Thanks for that. Thanks Hi there claego It retails for about $186 per metre per pane so you need to double the metre for double glaze. We obviously negotiated this but it is not cheap. So in essence each window just for the glass and not the making or installation is around $800 retail just for the glass for a 6 foot high and 3 foot wide window. we are selling and moving to the coast, if you know someone who wishes to buy in Mernda Villages, please visit this link http://www.realestate.com.au/property-h ... -107083288 Re: Have you recently had double glazing installed... 11Aug 03, 2009 2:34 pm aajinoz claego Hi aajinoz, is double glazing hush laminate expensive? I saw double glazed windows for the first time on Sunday and was speaking with the lady at the display home to get more information. All their other displays had normal windows by one company, but this house has double glazing by EcoClassic. I inquired as to why it was glazed - because of the amount of windows, and why the change in supplier to the other houses - because of the WERS rating. It was pretty cold outside and the other 3 displays had heaters on to what I thought was an unbearable temperature. The temperature of the house with double glazing was quite nice and enjoyable. Now, I didnt look at the thermostat readings of each of the houses so I dont know whether this particular house had a lower heating temperature but I thought it may be a point of interest. Windows worked well - they were all awning besides the sliding doors and bifold doors. I did have some trouble with a few of the other display home awnings trying to open them and I was beginning to feel worried until I went in this house. So window construction was very good, and I think came down to the difference in supplier rather than glazing. In terms of sturdiness, the windows were well made We are looking at double glazing as a way to reduce our energy consumption and also noise to a degree. We have poor performing windows in our current house where we can feel the air... it drives me insane while I try to sleep. I want to know that we did the best we could within our budget and we're hoping that double glazing will fit in with our constraints. I dont know whether my comments make much sense or help the discussion But thought I would post anyway!
