Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 03, 2009 12:11 pm Has anyone on here optioned a taller garage door? I own a large four wheel drive that just fits into most underground carparks (unless their height bar is on the wrong slope ) of which most are 2.1m. I notice that most plans have their door height at 2.1m, but with a sectioned panel door I am worried that it may hang low enough for me not to be able to fit in the garage. If anyone in the Doreen area has a sectional door and a relatively flat driveway, it would be great to see if my car would fit. Build Thread Re: Garage Door Height 2Aug 03, 2009 12:59 pm my true life experience : a friend of mine built a house last year with a vloume builder western sub of Melb, she optioned for the entry hallway ceiling to be 3 m instead of 2.7m for the rest of the house, and because the entry hallway is next to the garage and at same length with the garage, she noticed after the house was finished her garage door height is around 2.5 to 2.7 m high. so it can be done and someone out there did it non intentionally. Re: Garage Door Height 4Aug 03, 2009 1:48 pm We are about to order our steel frame and would like them to increase the height garage door gap. What is the maximum garage door height on a 2.7m high ceilings, so that there is still enough room at the top for the rolled up door to fit etc? You should get ayway with having a 2340 high door and a panel door. Also i assume your house ceiling height is 2.7 Sometimes your garage height can be made large if you are having step down garage. Thanks for that. The garage door will be panel but the detached garage will most probably be just a roller door. The detached garage will be 3m ceiling (not 2.7m) Re: Garage Door Height 7Aug 03, 2009 2:08 pm at 3 meters you may be able to go higher. than 2340 which is the next standard size after 2.1. Going higher than 2.34 you need to cost how much more you are wiling to pay. Also think about how it will look cosmetically as sometimes they dont look right when too high. Personally i wouldn't go to much higher unless you have specific plans for a boat etc. Re: Garage Door Height 8Aug 03, 2009 4:33 pm borg at 3 meters you may be able to go higher. than 2340 which is the next standard size after 2.1. Re: Garage Door Height 9Aug 03, 2009 4:40 pm You've got me thinking now Richo! How hard is it to raise the height of a garage? Ive got a 4WD thats on monster truck tyres (well, not quite, but they may as well be!) I know it wont fit in my 2.1m clearance, but wonder how hard it would be to get the height of it changed? I would assume it would just be a case of adding more bricks to it and paying a little extra for a longer garage door? Am I right, or is there more to it than that?? Just have to remember it when it comes time to look at contracts. Thanks Some people don't have time to do the job right the first time, but seem to have plenty of time to fix their mistakes. Re: Garage Door Height 13Aug 06, 2009 12:30 pm Anyone know what the standard/most common double garage door widths are? i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 15980 Dover white or surfmist garage door.
