Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 25, 2007 10:27 am Before I start hassling builders (perhaps pointlessly), I was wondering whether anyone has an approximate idea of the cost to smash through a couple of doors.
Basically it's a terrace house with those solid brick & rendered internal walls. What I want to do is create a kitchen-family room. That means knocking a doorway through the wall on either side of the fireplace. The picture below is NOT the actual house (and ignore the cabinets), but it does show the sort of situation: I'd need an open doorway on either side of the fireplace. Note that the doorways would not go to ceiling height, as the house has something like 12-foot ceilings. Any (really rough) idea of how much that'd cost ? And any opinion of the aesthetics of doing this ?
