Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 28, 2009 1:31 pm Our Council ( and they are all different) will pick up our bins and take them away until we return after building. This will save us heaps in Rates for Waste Management. I was grateful to have that snippet of info passed on to me. Never thought of it before, and of course the Council are not going to tell you are they???? www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Money back for garbage bins 2Jul 28, 2009 1:35 pm Themax, do you mean if you are demolishing and re-building on same block? With our council we had to apply for bins at handover - and the 'bin service' part of our rates was only applied from that date - ie for the proportion of the year for which we had the bins. Re: Money back for garbage bins 3Jul 28, 2009 1:47 pm No, sorry I was unclear. I mean that we have moved into a rental and doing a Knock down re build on our block, so therefore we are not using the bins at the block because we are not there. They are just sitting at the back of the block waiting for our return. We are using the bins at the rental. Our bins are just sitting there costing us money. -NOT ANY MORE!! Apparently if you call them when you are returning they bring you new bins and start charging you for the service again. EDIT - Sorry Helyn, yes that's correct demolishing and rebuilding. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Money back for garbage bins 5Jul 28, 2009 2:38 pm Yep, we did that too. And when they give your bins back they are brand new - Bonus. Just remember to let them know before you need them. Ours took 5 days, and we had heaps of rubbish from the move. It's a pity we all still have to pay sewer fees, apparently the fee is for the honour of having the sewer pipe go past your house. The fact that you are not connected to it is not important. Boo.
