Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 23, 2009 8:25 pm Our ironing board broke today. So I need to get a new one. Can anyone recommend a good brand or know a place that sells good ones? This one that broke was a Hills one from Myer, only about 5 years old. I had a look at Target today but there wasn't much of a range. I would prefer one that doesn't have the criss-crossy metal things on it, which sometimes show up as a pattern on the clothes even though I have a super-dooper thick cover that is supposed to stop all that I saw the Laurastar systems but it seems like you have to buy the whole thing including iron... I am happy with my iron, just want a new board for it... Re: Any recommendations for a good ironing board? 3Jul 23, 2009 9:42 pm Duke!!! I don't have any recommendations but was coming in to say don't get a Target one, mine is bit flimsy and the cover always falls off I will be watching this thread too My karma ran over your dogma Re: Any recommendations for a good ironing board? 4Jul 23, 2009 9:49 pm Depends how much ironing you actually do... I despise the space taken up by ironing boards and absolutely swear by the mini ones you can buy- about a metre long and they fold out to sit on your bench. They store so neatly on the top shelf of a cupboard or tucked beside the washing machine. Makes ironing not so much of a chore when you don't have to lug a huge beast out of the cupboard!! Not sure where to buy them from (sorry)- mum gave it to me, but it also came with a frangipani cover which is mint! Re: Any recommendations for a good ironing board? 6Jul 23, 2009 10:19 pm thanks for the replies. SuH why unfortunately for your Kmart one? Do you not like it? felistopher the little ones sound good for the kids' clothes, but not for ironing DH's shirts I don't think Dukekamaya Whats an 'íroning board'? that's my DH's line "Your emotions are the slaves to your thoughts, and you are the slave to your emotions." — Elizabeth Gilbert Living in our new house. I was having a look at their online products and see they do have an ironing-board-only option which might be good for me. Rod1949 that board does look good, but I like to put mine in the living area so I can watch tv while I iron.... and don't want a wall-mounted iron to be a permanent feature of my living room wall wonder if anyone's ever put a tv in their laundry? Re: Any recommendations for a good ironing board? 14Jul 30, 2009 9:19 am We have a Hills one we got from Bunnings they have about 4 different sizes I think ours is the 2nd largest, we have a really thick FELT pad (not foam) and don't have any problems with the "ridgey marks" , I think all the Hills ones have a mesh type back. I am a bit lazy and buy wrinkle free shirts, In the summer I still give them a slight iron but in this colder weather when wearing a jacket I don't bother. I try to buy clothes that dont crease Haven't seen the iron in over a year, its in a box somewhere from when I moved to the rental house. Thanks for that link Rod, I'd truly love one of these fold-out types, I saw one in the Howard's Storage World catalogue, not sure if it's the same type or not, it was a similar price as far as I recall. I know someone who did exactly that! good for them! We have recently become a 3 tv family after having only 1 forever, it will be a while before I can be comfortable with having 4 though I think! angel I try to buy clothes that dont crease Haven't seen the iron in over a year, its in a box somewhere from when I moved to the rental house. I used to do this pre-kids ... but the kids' clothes come out really creased sometimes and look so much nicer smooth. Plus I pay so much money for some of them that it would be a waste to have them looking wrinkled! Where do you get wrinkle free shirts??? Are you talking about men's business shirts? Please share!!! I went in there when they were having their Mothers Day promo and the guy demonstrated the ironing process. The claim is it will cut your ironing time in half which I think it will. It's only a short but very impressive demo with a very wrinkled business shirt and a fragile silk shirt. But the iron + ironing board is very very very expensive. It will be an investment if I ever buy it, and if I do, I will have to buy it on sale. Thanks for clarifying. Sorry I misunderstood your point 7 6974 Really tight at the top of the stairs- how to get furniture into those rooms? Study books - does anyone really use them these days?
