I've tried various cleaners but none of them have worked or even lessened it. The finish is synteko 2 part water based polish with a satin finish. I used hair-spray and it came out (I had googled "how to remove permanent marker from wood") then a little rub with toothpaste. It's completely gone!! Before I try anything though, see if you can test in an inconspicuous area, just in case it reacts badly with your wood. Good luck. Re: removing stains from blackbutt floor 5Jul 23, 2009 2:34 pm From the supermarket you can buy a sponge called the Chux magic eraser. You moisten the sponge and rub gently over the marks. These can be used on ovens, walls, wood etc. They are chemical and detergent free. I would be trying something like this before you start applying chemicals.
