Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 17, 2009 5:28 pm Hi everyone, Our conveyancer has just told us he can only do the land transfer and not the building contract - would have been nice of him to tell us at the start since he knew it was a house and land... Anyway, the bank needs details asap for our land loan. Does anyone have any recommendations for solicitors? Particularly fixed price? We're in the eastern suburbs at the moment but am not fussy about where they are located - as long as they are good and not crazy expensive... Also are there conveyancers who do both or can only solicitors to building contracts? Thanks in advance! Because if it is.. I didn't bother getting a solicitor to look over this and nothing in the contract can be changed anyway. You just need to make sure you are happy with the building days and the compensation if they exceed that. Standard is $250pw. There are threads on this if you do a search. Always use a solicitor for conveyancing. The people I used were Keelins Lawyers Melbourne 9252 0600 Solicitor: Jeremy Feiglin www.keelins.com.au Very good, very thorough. Good communication. I used one; he has his own private small business; it was just for my tranfer of land and it was straight forward and cheap!! There was no point paying a solicitor expansive fees for a straight forward transfer. But everyone has different circumstances!! Also approx costs if known would be good to find out. The law firm must have a trust account and an actual lawyer handling the transaction from start to end. If the same lawyer could also be used for the building contract process it would be useful (saves time). Titled land purchase will be in the Donnybrook [VIC 3064] area but the lawyer can be based in Melbourne and have an office that they are accessible face-to-face You may still have a case, but your next step is to speak to a lawyer. 3 1622 Very common on rendered homes Smaller suppliers get the lower quality raw materials 6 11861 4 14292 |
