Average Hourly Rate for Architects

I have been quoted $150 per hour and/or 10% of total cost of works. Is this reasonable ? who's getting a better deal ?

ive got 4x quotes so far, and the price does change:

from $50 for junior architect ~ $70~100~110an hour all in adelaide dont know if that helps..

Mine was a fixed fee and if I needed more done it was $100/hr.

An hourly rate doesn't work. You should really go for a fixed fee and not based on the costs of works. $15,000 should get you a design to DA.

thanks, just checked the fine print, it doesn't include GST!!!!, thus $165 per hour and 11% cost of works

Casa2, that is a great price, which part of sydney and are you able to recommend them ?

Fixed fee is definitely better than hourly fee!

And we're with a 'home designer' so not sure if that changes things price wise?

We got a good price though as he's the husband of a lady from work.

so a 10k fee including engineering isnt too bad then casa?

working drawings/elevations/cost estimation/DA etc...
