Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 02, 2009 5:17 pm Hi everyone, Me and wife have just bought this Post War house on a 625sqm block in Mt.Gravatt, Brisbane. We have plans to renovate, starting hopefully soon. Starting off with painting the interior, a rear deck then kitchen and bathroom. Exterior painting and landscaping the yard. I have been looking for information specifically about Post War houses but with no success. Anyone here on the forum that could possibly help out? Does anyone know what sort of material costs we can expect when it comes to e.g. building a backdeck? We have builders among our family and close friends so we can cut a large amount off from labour. Anyways, thanks. J & R Re: Post War Reno in Mt.Gravatt Qld. 2Jun 02, 2009 11:22 pm JZ75Bris Hi everyone, Me and wife have just bought this Post War house on a 625sqm block in Mt.Gravatt, Brisbane. We painted the whole interior, ripped up carpets and polished the floor boards, stripped the laundry and practically rebuilt the whole thing, new covered deck, painted the roof, installed insulation, air cons, new kitchen, new bathroom, full exterior paint of house and garage, installed a water tank, all new light switches and power points, new fittings throughout, installed built in wardrobes in 2 bedrooms, replaced crumbling concrete stumps , ripped up the old concrete paths and installed new pavers, landscaped the gardens, prettied up the front fence the list goes on......... Total of $40K spent. Sold it for $425K in december after being on the market for 1 day . Cant help but think it was too cheap, especially when i'm seeing lots of unrenovated places for that now.
