Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 01, 2009 4:38 pm Hi all, love the site and everyones input. Just a quick Q on rendering. I have a spiral staircase with a cureved brick wall that i want to render and make it a feature as it is in the center of the house. I would like to either add something to the render (or paint afterwards) to give it an almost quartzon, granite/reconstituted stone reflection-sparkle in the sunlight. I've been to few paint stores with no luck. The only thing i've found is a Dulux product called wonderwalls fairy glitter which is basically glitter in a clear overcoat. It looks a little 'childrens bedroomish' IMO, the only other info I've found on the web is a product called Valspar granite crystals which is a paint addiditve that appearantly gives a textured look with the effect I'm looking for...although doesnt seem to be much info or activity in Australia. Can anyone point me in the right direction or another option? Thanks Al Re: Render finishes, coatings.. 2Jun 03, 2009 9:53 am am i the only moron that likes faux finishes? lol Re: Render finishes, coatings.. 3Jun 03, 2009 1:52 pm nine2eight :? am i the only moron that likes faux finishes? lol Well maybe you could go for something more real, did you think about putting some stackstone on it, that way you will have real quartz/ganite or whatever stone look your after. Yes davinci i am in Vic (vermont), i will investigate limestone rendering over the weekend and might make it out to Mordialloc to check it out. Thanks for the input! Stackstone looks interesting but I notice pieces are approx3cms depth. not sure how this would work on a curved wall, and at around 40m2 area might prove costly. hmmm thanks again Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
