Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 31, 2009 9:57 pm We have just picked up 7 doors of ebay for a bargin price...just wondering what is the best way to strip the paint of them, as some have chipped paint and we will like to repaint them? I heard that there is a company that dips doors in a chemical for you and all the paint comes off. Has anyone heard of this? Do I get an electric sander and get the paint off that way Or is it a case of good old elbow greece and a paint scraper? Any help would be great Re: What is the best way to strip paint of doors? 2May 31, 2009 10:00 pm My parents found a place that did as you said - they dipped the doors which completely stripped off layers and layers of paint and stains. Dad always said it was massively easier then trying to do it by hand (they are restoring a 1880's home so the amount of paint layers is scary!!) Check your yellow pages under restoration etc. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: What is the best way to strip paint of doors? 3May 31, 2009 10:03 pm I would be very wary of stripping old doors by hand. You never know if you are going to come across lead paint. I think from memory the dip and strip method is like an acid bath. no coffee? no work!!! I am almost sure that they are solid as they all weigh a tone!! Can the chemical dip harm different types of wood? 4 9048 Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has switched from a small square tile insert or normal square waste to a strip drain at all, and if so did the plumber or diy-er… 0 13128 |
