Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 23, 2005 3:37 pm After months of trying to find a landscaper to replant, rebuild and generally improve our garden I have found an enthusiastic and responsible young man, recently quaified in horticuture and landscaping. He has come up with innovative and well priced options, is always punctual and his quotes seem fair and reasonable.
My only reservation about offering him the work is that he has, as yet, no insurance cover - the premiums are beyond him and, so far, he has worked on only small projects. I would love to give him an opportunity but am I being foolhardy, knowing he has no insurance cover? The work is minor, involves no ladders or heavy equipment, only power tools, some paving an d digging. My concern is as much for his wellbeing as for our own risk. Re: Question regarding insurance 3Oct 07, 2005 3:57 pm Weren't things a lot easier before Public Liability Kat.
I doubt if your household policy would cover engaging a contractor to do work around your home but what if he were to call around and do some 'free' work to help you out & then maybe your insurance would be sufficient.. Maybe you could pay him for giving you a 'landscape design' (if he's a friend) & then liability insurance wouldn't come into the equasion ?? Just food for thought.
