Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 26, 2009 2:09 pm This is my first time posting here. I'd appreciate some help with a dryer we have just purchased. We got a vent dryer, and it came with an exhaust pipe to direct the hot air/lint to open air outside. Unfortunately our laundy room has no external walls. We do have a skylight, so I was wondering if it is possible to get a longer exhaust pipe through there with some fittings? Or create a hole in the ceiling? Is that a possibility? In the guidebook for the dryer, it says that it is possible to operate the dryer wihtout the exhaust pipe. But it will create a lot of condensation on the walls, etc. I also imagine lint being everywhere... What options do I have? I know that in the UK there is a condensation box that can be attached to the end of the exhaust pipe to capture moisture and lint. I cant find anything like that here in WA. Any advice is much appreciated. Also, if the only choice i have is to put the exhaust pipe through the ceiling, who does this sort of work? And what is the estimated cost? Thank you in advance. Re: Exhaust pipe installation - Bosch vent dryers 2May 26, 2009 2:32 pm Surely the dryer has a lint filter? That would be an awful lot of fluff to just be blowing out of the house. Please check, because not cleaning out the filter regularly can be dangerous. What sort of roof do you have and how far from the nearest external wall is the dryer? IMO you should talk to both the manufacturer and a roofing plumber to figure out what is the best solution for your circumstances. I am installing a new Bosch SMU4HTS01A built under dushwasher.
