Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Did your slab look really small? 21May 24, 2009 8:32 pm Yes when our slab was down it seemed so small that I couldn't picture how they would fit all the rooms, and I thought it was going to be too narrow (8m wide from memory). When the walls go up you get to panic about the width of your hallways! I think it all becomes normal when it's nearly finished! Re: Did your slab look really small? 22May 24, 2009 8:46 pm I am a bit worried about ours looking small to, ours will be 355sqm without alfresco but I have a feeling it's still going to look small, as are all the other houses around are. They poured 3 slabs in our estate last week and one of them looked that small that we thought it was just a funny shaped garage... Albeit, 4 days later the frame was up and it is going to be a 3 bdrm home... Wern't we a tad surprised! Re: Did your slab look really small? 23May 25, 2009 9:02 am Dark Angel I'm another one who thought the same lol! When I had my slab party I was showing my friends where the rooms would go and I wasn't sure how 2 bedrooms were going to fit down the back part. So there was some random, non-committal waving of the arms when describing where the rooms were ("there will be 2 bedrooms *waves arms in a circular shape* here, somewhere" ). +1 We dint really have a slab party ... just took my brother in law to see the block and slab .... and thats exactly what i ended up doing ... my kitchen doesnt seem to have any room for the 900mm cooktop and fridge together either !! Has anyone else thought this about their slab? Is it all visual perception? At what point does it look the correct size? Just read the whole thread and am sooo glad I am not the only one, lol. Our slab went down three weeks ago. Then they delivered the bricks and now the first wall has gone up. Yesterday when we went out there, we stood on the slab "in" various rooms and thought they all looked very small! (I am telling myself that it'll be fine when it's finished. Oh, god, I hope so!!!) Then there's the wall party, and the roof party, and the lockup party (which may be a bit depressing as you can no longer go into your own home and only peek through the windows!). Then there's the multitude of other parties before the handover party. Then it's back to the slab party, where I buy a slab and hope my friends all love me enough to turn up and help me paint! Our slab went down today and even though it is a large one, l've been having the omg the furniture ain't gonna fit moments. I have to keep reminding myself that this "my slab is small" is a common and (mind boggling) phenomenom, that these doubts are perfectly normal and all will be fine in the end! Re: Did your slab look really small? 30Jun 05, 2009 8:48 am Everytime i start a building a new home until i actually do the flick out they all look small. But at what stage does the house feel like it is large/small? As soon as the plasta goes on. Personally working around the frames you never get a real feel for how big the house will be! But I agree all slabs look small unless the house is massive. do not pay until you are satisfied with workmanship windows require flashing over the head archithrave and up under weatherboards 3 28281 No the fireplace doesn’t work.
