He had only allowed a certain amount for bricks in his quote and these are the most expensive brick in the Boral range... apparently! Anyhow, has this happened to anyone else?? I know that builders are notorious for asking for more money.. not providing proper quotes etc.. However our planning documents had specified the color of the bricks that were required (even though they were from a different brick company and are now discontinued). Not happy! Re: Not happy! 3May 22, 2009 2:03 pm have the bricks been signed off at the old cost? If so then it's the builders fault and you shouldn't have to pay anymore than what they have told you and what has been signed off on. ---------------------------------------- Building the PD Lisbon 24 http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#homeviewer/lisbon/24 Blog of our progress. http://lisbon24.blogspot.com/ Homeone build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28665 Re: Not happy! 4May 22, 2009 2:12 pm TimmyDunlop have the bricks been signed off at the old cost? The OP said that they are a different brick from a different supplier, just similar to what the original selection was. This is a tricky one as it is actually a different item. I think you probably have to pay it, or reselect a different brick for the same price. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. As they could not have foreseen that the bricks they quoted on were to be discontinued, I think they will be able to justify increase - I think your options will be to take the dearer bricks and wear the cost, or select another brick at the original price from what is available in that price group. I can understand your'e not happy but I dont think this one is the builders (or anyone's) fault and understandably they wont bear the higher cost without passsing it on to you.
