Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Standard facade - no render etc 21May 22, 2009 9:49 am Eljay, it all depends on the design of the facade. A well-designed house can look fantastic, with or without render. We have a requirement on our estate that 20% of the facade must be rendered or painted, so there are no plain brick houses around here, but I've seen plenty that look really good. If you have some sort of feature, such as a portico or columns, or feature windows or something, that can really lift the overall look. Remember that landscaping can make a huge difference too. And if you really think it needs render, that can be added at any time later on. Re: Standard facade - no render etc 22May 23, 2009 6:46 pm Thanks everyone, I'm glad to see others are going down the no render option I've had another look through my 'design guide' that was included in my contract of sale of land and I can't see anywhere where it says I have to have render at the front. I had to have another look because I went out to the lot today (yah!! roads are almost complete!) and they ALL have render at the front. I hope I get a good choice of brick and may upgrade brick if I have too. I've already spent my TV money, so I may as well spend the lounge money too lol I'll just have to move in with all my old crappy stuff I can't wait to see what brick options I get now! We have gone for a section of weatherboard instead (similar to the coastal pic in metricon) and upgrade our bricks.
