Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 18, 2009 5:53 pm We are in the process of building a new house. We know that the tank water has to be plumbed to a certain % of the house but we would also like to be able to access it from the laundry. Rather than have two taps (one for tank only) I have been told there are taps that have two spouts (I imagine like the ones for filtered water) but I am unable to find anything. Does anyone have any ideas, pictures to help. Thanks Sonya Picklemouse's House - We have dirt and photos to prove it viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16548 http://picklemouse.blogspot.com Re: HELP!!! How do I get my rainwater inside to the laundry.... 2May 18, 2009 6:38 pm You can have a pump connected to your tank that pumps pressurised water to selected points, for example, your laundry, wc etc . When the tank gets low, the pump autmatically turns itself off and switches back to a mains pressure water connection. Grundfos make a pressure pump that has that facility. I think its called the Genie. Re: HELP!!! How do I get my rainwater inside to the laundry.... 3May 18, 2009 7:48 pm I am guessing that this is the type of pump that the builder will be installing but I want to have access to the rainwater all the time (to filter and drink). Rather than have two taps on my laundry I am trying to find one that I can switch over from main to tank. Thanks for your help. Rather than change the tub I was hoping to change the tap. I was hoping there was one I could switch to tank water when I want, in the same way you can switch to filtered water. I might just have to get one plumbed to the wall. Picklemouse's House - We have dirt and photos to prove it viewtopic.php?f=31&t=16548 http://picklemouse.blogspot.com Re: HELP!!! How do I get my rainwater inside to the laundry.... 6May 19, 2009 9:24 am I know someone who has a 10,000 litre tank plumbed directly into their existing pipe-work. When there's water in the tank, they close the mains valve and open the tank valve, and their pump provides pressure. I believe that this is illegal though. There's a chance that germs from whatever dead animal is floating around in your tank, could cross contaminate the mains supply. Re: HELP!!! How do I get my rainwater inside to the laundry.... 7May 20, 2009 2:37 pm I have seen in some old bathrooms, where there's a switch for you to choose whether the water should come from the hand held shower or the bath tub tap and it looks like a telephone set as the hand held sits on top of the tap. Is this something similar to what you are looking for? We asked for something like that for our main bath, but our builder said it's not available... I have also seen some bathroom brochures where in the shower, there's both a hand-held one and one outlet from the top, and again a switch for you to switch. May be instead of laundry, you should look at the bathroom suppliers, or ask some plumbers for help. Re: HELP!!!
