Had to get the biggest size possible - to accomodate what is currently a 30kg puppy.. but will 1 day be a 60-70kg Dogue De Bordeaux! (Hooooge!) Really happy with the insert.. we were worried from a security perspective about having such a large entry point into our house. Were originally looking at security doors etc.. but every door company we talked to said it voided the concept of it being a security door if there was such a big hole in it. Figured.. why bother.. may as well get the temporary one we can remove if needs be anyway. So we put the insert into the sliding fly screen (we have the doors thats 2 that pull in from the side and meet in the middle - forget the technical name) .. and we can then shut the glass on the inside.. and still lock it. Works a treat ! Re: Dog door fitted into a sliding patio door? 20Feb 16, 2010 8:13 pm We have two large maincoon cats which come and go through a dog door.Our cat enclosure is along the side of the house.We replaced the glass panel with perspect(Sp?) .It looks exactly like glass until you tape on it.It doesnt have any movement and doesnt let the draft though.Its clear material. I’m in a similar position except I’m after sliding 3 stacking doors.
