Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 11, 2009 9:49 am Hi guys We are 'supposedly' a few weeks away from handover. CSC and SS said I should organise electricity connection to the house. We are in an established area which has overhead power, but we have recently had an underground powerpit installed. The builder used a temporary powerpole for their work during the build. I have noticed on other people's build who are at the same stage have power by now, but we don't, none of our lights work. I thought this may have something to do with not being connected to the underground powerpit. I rang our current supplier for our current house Country Energy and they said I had to fax them proof that the underground powerpit had been installed. I then rang Powercor who were responsible for installing the underground powerpit and they said they had never heard of such a thing and didn't understand the request. So my question is, for those who have underground powerpits, who did you ring to connect the electricity supply to the house? Did you have to provide any proof of paperwork? Did you do it during the end of the build, or after handover? Any other help would be great too Cheers My karma ran over your dogma Re: Connecting electricity around handover 2May 11, 2009 4:40 pm Ok so I rang around some more, and it now seems that the electricity company does not connect the underground powerpit to the house, we have to get someone outside to do it. They must be accredited to Level 2 – service work/connection services. So I ask if I can be given a list of names/companies in my area to ring around too and apparently they cannot give this information out. So I google and can only find the above qualifications listed on NSW sites.... Does anyone know the name/number of a person/company that can connect electricity from an underground power pit to a house in Melbourne's west? Thanks My karma ran over your dogma Re: Connecting electricity around handover 3May 11, 2009 5:36 pm Do you have the details for the electrician that did the work at your place? Will PM her too My karma ran over your dogma Re: Connecting electricity around handover 6May 11, 2009 6:19 pm Are you sure there's no power connected, Bel? We found that the tradies (or somebody) would turn off the power at the meter, so all we had to do was flick the master switch to ON and our lights all worked. But then, maybe it's different for you because of the power pit thingie. Power's all underground here anyway. Re: Connecting electricity around handover 7May 11, 2009 6:23 pm Hmmm I didn't even think to go and look at the meter Kek, but I noticed that none of our batton lights have bulbs in them so it would probably only work for the downlights anyway...worth a try though - will check tomorrow. I'm interested when the bulbs will go in because we will need them for the upcoming PCI My karma ran over your dogma "Losers" "humanity" "off time" "your" "top notch" "love symbol" Sounds like ponzo is done using other people's toilets 36 23884 There is evidence of water on the head reveals.
